Samsung Sets New Benchmarks with Replaceable Batteries and Seven Years of Updates
15 April 2025Samsung has introduced two new rugged devices aimed at professionals operating in demanding environments: the Galaxy XCover7 Pro smartphone and the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro tablet. Designed with durability and longevity in mind, both devices are built to endure harsh conditions and promise an impressive seven years of software and security updates.
Robust New Devices for Industrial Use
The Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro are tailored for users working in logistics, manufacturing, and field services. Both models are MIL-STD-810H certified and come with IP68 protection, making them resistant to drops, moisture, and dust.
The XCover7 Pro is equipped with a 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD screen and boasts a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, supported by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. One of the standout features is its replaceable battery, which, according to Samsung, can last up to 17 hours on a single charge. The device also supports 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro shares the same processor and memory specifications as the smartphone, with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. However, storage on the tablet can be expanded by up to 2 TB via microSD. It features a 10.1-inch LCD display, also with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Designed for Real-World Conditions
Samsung highlights the S Pen’s usability in challenging conditions, noting that it works even in the rain or when wearing gloves. The tablet’s 10,100 mAh battery supports hot-swapping, allowing it to be replaced without shutting the device down—ideal for long shifts in the field.
Both devices run on Android 15 and come with a promise of up to seven years of software and security updates, a significant step forward for long-term usability in enterprise settings.
Enterprise Features Built In
The Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro both support Samsung DeX, enabling desktop-like experiences when connected to external displays. Thanks to a POGO pin connector, they can be integrated into docking stations for easy charging and use in professional environments.
The tablet also includes an mPOS (mobile point-of-sale) feature for contactless payments directly from the device. Additionally, with Samsung’s Knox Capture, users can scan QR codes and barcodes and connect the data directly to SAP systems—enhancing workflow efficiency in logistics and inventory management.
By offering durable hardware with long-term support and enterprise-grade features, Samsung is clearly positioning the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro as go-to solutions for businesses needing reliability, security, and flexibility in tough working environments.
