PARTNER CONTENT

FAMU is the theatrical heart of Prague’s youth, with students training to earn the spotlight of the Czech Republic’s renowned stage. It’s no surprise then that they have the keenest sense in picking movies, finding the perfect festival hit that promises a dramatic performance of elevating proportions. Watch the Australian coming-of-age film “The Summer of Milla”, subbed in Czech, in the university’s final summer film showing this evening.

8/09: Tuesday

Magic Phantom Performance at HILT – Black Light Theatre. Ticket prices starting at 380czk.

Dazzling lights, a suspenseful phantom, and an intrepid cast will be gathered on stage for the Magic Phantom performance at the Black Light Theatre this Tuesday. With the stage filled with contemporary effects befitting this modern art form, be swept off your feet and entranced in this whimsical performance by the HILT Theatre group.

9/09: Wednesday

Le Petit Apéro: French wine & tapas at Manifesto Market Florenc, starting at 18:00.

Manifesto makes our list this week twice with back-to-back events that are overwhelmingly enticing. At the Florenc market this Wednesday, join for a classical French wine and tapas event that will have you traveling through the French countryside. Learn about different regions and grapes while trying a variety of wines, with this week’s focus on the Alsace region. It’s never too late to beef up your fine-wine game – become the sommelier you’ve always dreamed of being and join other passionate wine-drinkers!

11 – 13/09: Friday-Sunday

Sustainability Festival at Manifesto Market Smichov starting at 18:00.

The Smichov Manifesto Market will be home to a full-flung festival offering a variety of panel discussions, documentary showings, and celebrations that will aim to educate and entertain those on environmental sustainability. After kicking off with a retro party this Friday, they’ll be hosting programmes to discuss pressing topics such as slow fashion and ocean pollution. See the environmental role models of the Czech Republic and learn how you can adapt your lifestyle for a safer and cleaner Earth this weekend!

13/09: Sunday

Beer & Burger Festival in Karlin Square starting at 11am. Tickets start at 70czk.

There’s little to be written to help convince you of the amazingness that a festival called “Beer and Burger” has, but I’ll try anyways. This 5th edition of the festival will be showcasing gourmet burgers and a diverse array of beers, from lagers to IPAs, and will let you indulge in the best cheat-day ever while engaging in craft beer culture. All of this is supported with live music, making it a fantastic world to escape into this Sunday.

Until the end of the Year:

Exhibition: 19th-20th century Jewish Experience in Bohemia and Moravia at Prague’s Jewish Museum.

Museums have been up and running in Prague for a while now, but if you haven’t heard, next week starts a crusade of free/discounted ticketing for local museums. To highlight a special exhibition, you can check out this Jewish Life in the Czech Republic for the last 200 years to understand the trials and tribulations of those living in a politically precarious time period. There are a variety of other exhibitions at the Jewish Museum you can explore as well, promising an educative and engaging day anytime this Fall.
