Manifesto Smíchov to co-host Street Art Against Visual Smog event on September 21st.

If you’re not familiar with Manifesto Market, you ought to be.

Manifesto is the brainchild of expat Martin Berry (founder and CEO). The gastronomic and cultural market, which was created in collaboration with the non-profit reSITE, became an immediate hit with locals and tourists alike when its first location opened near Masarykovo nádraží and the Florenc Bus Depot in 2018.

Currently, the market consists of 24 recycled containers housing culinary concepts from various Prague restaurateurs (17 restaurants) as well as various other vendors (3 bars and 4 pop-up’s) in what amounts to a unique collection of food, art, design, and even specialty programs. They frequently spotlight concerts, outdoor movies, and even tailor events for the season. The Christmas Market was particularly fun last year with little plastic domes you could reserve for a meal, making it feel as though you were dining inside a giant snow globe.

Since earning prizes along with rave reviews (“Prague has recently made a massive leap up the coolness scale.” – Lonely Planet, “A Gastronomical Paradise Emerged in the Center of Prague. ” -Denik) a second Manifesto opened in Smíchov this past July and like its predecessor, it’s already a huge success.

Of the concept, Barry said,“At each stage of design, curating and concept for Manifesto, we remembered our visitors. We want to create comfort and give them a sense of uniqueness, create an experience that suits them, and we want it to inspire them. We want people to create a relationship with our place, and we want it to be love at first sight. We believe ‘unique is the new black.’”

Now, Manifesto will be co-hosting a special event near the end of next month at their Smíchov location. The event, titled Street Art Against Visual Smog, is being organized by Attяact and Zažít město jinak and during this “block party,” various Prague graffiti artists will repaint the metro ventilation shaft literally steps away from the Manifesto Smíchov location. The vent is in bad shape and in dire need of an aesthetic upgrade, so the artists will give it an artistic facelift and you can watch it all go down!

Manifesto will also offer a variety of unique opportunities for the whole family that day. At “Graffiti School,” you and the kids can learn how to create street art – and they’ll even provide the paint for you! In the “Art Zone,” you can indulge your inner fashion designer. Have some old jackets, jeans, or T-Shirt’s? Here you can give them new life with a street art flavor using special textile paints. And don’t worry, if you’ve already donated all your old stuff, you can purchase a new Tee right there at the market!

Once you’ve designed and painted your t-shirt, how about some body art to match? Adults can take the opportunity to get a tattoo – yes, a real one for those 18 and older – from renowned tattoo artist Dina of Voltage Tattoo (check out some of her jaw-dropping work here: and she’ll be there all day!

As if all of that isn’t enough to entice you, how about getting some free cuddles from some Bulldog pups courtesy of the good people at OS Buldočí naděje ( – be careful or you just might be convinced to take a new friend home. And of course, you can enjoy the various delicious food and drink on offer at Manifesto.

Basically, you’re not gonna wanna miss this special event, but you really ought to check out Manifesto anyway if you haven’t yet. You won’t be disappointed.
