Just three days ago, we posted an article stating it was highly likely that The Czech Republic would soon see cases of the Coronavirus and shared some tips about how you can avoid not only the infamous covid-19 virus, but the flu in general during a brutal flu season (you can find that article here: https://cz.cityspy.network/prague/features/want-to-avoid-the-flu-or-other-illness-heres-how/). Well, as of today, the country has announced not one case, but three.
Czech Health Minister Adam Vojtech revealed the findings earlier this afternoon. All three of the patients (two Czech citizens and one American on a study-abroad program) had recently travelled from Northern Italy and all three are currently under quarantine and showing mild symptoms.
Two of the affected are in Prague, while one is in Ustí nad Labem, a town about an hour north.
The Health Minister, in a televised briefing, once again warned against unnecessary travel to regions in Northern Italy (flights to China have already stopped), saying, “We ask everyone to very seriously consider not traveling to those regions for holiday or ski trips unless necessary, because the danger exists.”
As the virus continues to spread around the world with new reports coming in almost hourly and the numbers in China continuing to climb (an additional 573 cases reported today) the total of infected worldwide is pushing toward 90,000. Officials with the WHO (World Health Organization) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) are ever closer to labeling covid-19 a global pandemic.
