Getting a Public Transport Card (Lítačka) in Prague

If you’re in Prague and you’re here to stay, it’d be best to get a transport card to make your life easier. Forget about the ticket machines and standing there trying to figure out the minutes and fumbling with your change. One administrative stop and some forms, and you’ll be on your way around the city in no time. Not sure how to start? We’re here to help. The first thing you need to do is get yourself a professional passport sized photo. For this, you can go to any photo copy center that provides this service and you can get this all done within 20 minutes, tops. Here are a few places that does this: Or you can go to a passport photo booth located at the entrance of Florenc metro station (many other central metro stations also have photo booths). Ok, now that we’ve got that settled, there are two ways in which this can be done: online or offline. As for the offline method, I highly recommend it and getting your Lítačka will be instant. Grab your passport and take yourself down to the office at Jungmannova 35/29, Prague 1 (this place will be your best bet to avoid any problems). This location is open from Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 18:00, Friday 08:00 – 15:30. Other offices include:
  • Hradčanská Information Centre (Mo – Fri 06:00-20:00;  Sat 09:30-17:00 )
  • Roztyly (Mo – Fri 06:00-20:00; break 12:45-13:15)
  • The Prague Public Transport Co., Central Dispatch at Na Bojišti 5 , Prague 2 (Mo – Fri 06:00-20:00; break 12:45-13:15, 16:00 – 16:30)
If you prefer to do it the online way, keep in mind that the processing time will take approximately 14 days before being able to go and physically pick it up. To get your Lítačka card online, create an account and get started with this link. There you have it. If you have any questions, take a look at the official Lítačka website here.
