A few years ago, “selfie coffee” became a thing in Singapore: take a picture of yourself, hand it over to a barista, and a special machine will print it in foam on top of your latte.
Now, the unique self-indulgent cuppa has made it to Prague.
Located in Lucerna’s U Nováků Passage at Vodičkova 28, Selfie Coffee Prague is now serving up foam-printed cappuccinos and more.
Michala Karpjaková and Marek Adam, who founded the newly-opened cafe, were directly inspired by the Singapore cafe, which they came across while on vacation.
How does Selfie Coffee work in Prague?
It’s surprisingly easy. A barista will either take your photo, or you can send them a pic from your phone. A special “printer” will then create the image on top of your latte using foam and food dye.
The photo doesn’t have to be a selfie – – company logos, pictures of pets, and other images have also been popular at the new cafe. Some customers have even requested, er, racier images.
And the coffee doesn’t have to be a coffee: you can get a picture printed in a hot cocoa or other foam-topped beverage.
A regular, non-printed latte at Selfie Coffee runs for 50 crowns, while the printed version costs 65 crowns.
Billed as the first and only selfie coffee cafe in the Czech Republic, Selfie Coffee Prague is open daily from 7:00 – 20:00 inside the Lucerna complex at Vodičkova 28.
