Top-Notch and Affordable Vietnamese Food in Prague (Part 1) – Pho Vietnam

Craving some fresh Vietnamese cuisine in Prague? Don’t know where to go? Let me tell you that your hard days of searching are over — we found them.Pho VietnamIf you’re into the best of the best when it comes to pho (vietnamese rice noodles with fresh vegetables soaked in a spiced-rich broth), it doesn’t always have to be expensive. Here, located near the centre of Prague is Pho Vietnam, the mighty god of all the pho for just 99 CZK ($4). The most popular pho dishes are Pho Ga (chicken-based) or Pho Bo (beef-based).If you’re not in the mood for hot soup, there is an alternative – perhaps the best alternative. I think it’s my favourite dish in the entire city. It’s called Bun Nem and you can get it also for 99 CZK ($4).What is it? It’s 3 or 4 deep fried spring rolls chopped and placed over cold rice noodles. They also bring you a killer garlic and vinegar sauce to dip the spring rolls in or to just bathe the entire dish in (if you’re like me). Describing it will not bring justice to it – please just give it a try.The way it works here is that you first place your order at the counter and pay. Then they hand you a wooden spoon with a number which you then must stick upright inside of a bowl full of rice on any table (that you want to sit and eat at). In 5-10 minutes, a waitress will come over and bring your fresh meal to your table and take the wooden spoon away. It’s simple, fast, and very tasty. The only thing is that if you can’t finish your food or want to take it home, they charge you 10 CZK (it used to be 5 CZK) for a plastic bag and a box. It’s still fair though, for the quality of food and the amount that you’re getting. There are two locations (one is a restaurant and one is just a take-out place). The one located in between Namesti Miru and IP Pavlova is the full-on restaurant where you can sit and dine. The one located across Jiriho z Podebrad’s square is just a take-out place where you can stand and eat at counters if you prefer, but there are no sit-down options available. Just a grab and go kind of thing which is also excellent when you’ve got things to do and places to be but still want that pho.Want to check it out? Good choice. Here’s everything you need to know:Locations:Anglicka 529/15, Prague 120 00, Czech Republic (sit down restaurant) Slavíkova 1, Vinohrady, Praha 2 (take-out / grab and go)
