Are you looking for a unique and interesting event that takes place in Prague? How about an event where you can meet people from around the world, and which takes place in Malá Strana on Sundays? At this ideal location, art sessions are now being held. Many artists have lived in and around these winding paths, and surely there’s no question why. Malá Strana is a piece of art in itself. Walking around and admiring the historical district is just as inspirational as looking at the artist’s masterpiece of the city! The old buildings around you are just screaming their history out of the rooftops! I’m pretty sure that if they could talk, they would tell us great stories from the past.
Now back to this extraordinary event — Paint and Vino. The title says it all. Whether you love painting or not, it doesn’t hurt to give it a try! There is no event in Prague quite like this, and that’s why my friend Alysa decided to start one. Meet Alysa – a girl from Hawaii, and also a really talented, amazing and hard-working person who has been living in Prague for nearly three years. She’s attended events like this abroad, and in addition to her painting experience, she figured she should start her own in here in Prague.
You can read our interview with Alysa here.
So why is it called Paint and Vino? As it’s written in the title: you paint while you enjoy some wine. Not too much wine, though!
Now, I know many of you are thinking: but I cant paint! Trust me, you can. As noted in the description of this event, everyone can make his or her own art without any previous experience. You can even take home your art that day. It might sound unreal to you, but hey, why not give it a try? With the help from the most talented girl I’ve ever met so far, everything seems to be possible. She will navigate you through the entire painting process and show you how to do it step-by-step. She is not lying in the description. I’ve personally attended this event many times, and all of my artwork has turned out pretty well. Admittedly, I love painting, but I’ve met many people (not just girls) at this event who had never painted before, and they were able to create some really great paintings.
You can find the art-image for the next event on their website to help you decide if you’d like to attend or not. Then go ahead and reserve your seat. I recommend that you reserve your seat as soon as you know you would like to go, since many times it’s full. You pay an affordable deposit in advance at the reservation, and the rest is paid when you finish the session. Everything you need is included — you don’t have to bring anything with you at all. You will find your canvas and all the necessary things on your table. Attendance varies, so there could be from three to nine people at each event. The picture of the art you are going to paint is fixed to the top of your canvas, with your brushes and acrylic colors on the side and a cool apron on your chair. Would you like to be Spiderman or Batman for those hours of painting? Pick the one you like and take your seat. The session starts at 5:30 pm at Újezd. Every event starts with introductions and a few minutes of getting to know everyone, which is great because you wont find the same people there every time. I met girls from the US, UK, Czech, Poland, as well as guys from France and the US. Did I already mention that everyone can do it? Alysa will tell you everything you need to know and show you step-by-step how to make your own amazing masterpiece. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask her. She is the right person at the right place.
Of course, I nearly forgot the wine! Yes, you will drink some wine as well (if you want). Better inspiration, more self-confidence, or “just because”. No matter what, you should go and see for yourself, and not just for the wine, but because you can meet many talented and friendly people from around the globe. You can also make some new friends as I did, because you will be so proud of yourself when you place your own canvas on your wall and that you have an inner artist after all.
