Goodbye to an Icon

On Saturday, October 12, mourners lined the streets to pay their last respects to a man described as “The Sinatra of the East.” Czech musical and national icon, Karel Gott was laid to rest with a full state funeral at St. Vitus Cathedral. Among the invited guests were political leaders as well as a host of celebrities to honor the late singer’s legacy. Gott rose to fame in the 1960’s, releasing more than 300 albums throughout his lifetime and earning numerous awards, accolades, and the admiration of fans worldwide.
