Call of Duty Season 4: New Operators, Classic Maps and the Return of Zombies Mode
22 May 2025The launch of Season 4 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone marks a major milestone in the ongoing evolution of the franchise. With a wealth of fresh content including new maps, gameplay modes, and operators, this season aims to captivate both long-time fans and newcomers alike. A standout feature of the update is the introduction of Ana de Armas as a playable character, known for her role in the upcoming film Ballerina.
Among the highlights are the new multiplayer maps – Shutdown, Fugitive, Eclipse, and Blitz – each designed to offer unique tactical opportunities and fresh challenges. Additionally, the return of the beloved Fringe map from Black Ops 3, set to appear later in the season as a remastered version, blends nostalgic appeal with updated visuals and mechanics. This balanced mix of the new and the familiar is set to deliver dynamic and engaging combat scenarios.
One of the more intriguing additions is the new Team Elimination mode, which puts a twist on the classic Kill Confirmed formula. In this format, two teams face off with a limited number of lives per round, and collecting dog tags becomes crucial to securing victory. Fan-favourite One in the Chamber is also making a comeback, promising fast-paced action and high stakes.
The addition of Ana de Armas to the operator roster adds a pop culture edge to the game. Her character, Eve Macarro, driven by vengeance, will be available as part of the Ballerina Tracer Pack, which includes exclusive character skins and themed weapons. This crossover reflects Call of Duty’s ongoing effort to blend high-octane gameplay with broader entertainment trends.
Meanwhile, the popular Zombies mode is expanding with the reintroduction of Grief, a competitive 4v4 setup last seen in Black Ops 2. In this chaotic survival mode, teams must battle both the undead and each other to control key areas of the map. Its return has been highly anticipated by the community and is expected to reinvigorate the multiplayer experience with a dose of tense, unpredictable encounters.
Warzone, Call of Duty’s battle royale component, is also receiving notable updates. A new point of interest, the towering skyscraper known as The Overlook, will introduce vertical combat strategies and fresh tactical scenarios. Additionally, the large-scale Clash mode – a 52 vs. 52 team deathmatch – is set to return, offering frenetic battles on a grand scale.
Altogether, Season 4 reinforces Call of Duty’s commitment to evolving its gameplay and delivering new thrills with each update. By combining fan-favourite elements with innovative features and cultural tie-ins, the franchise continues to push the boundaries of the multiplayer shooter genre.
